the UGLY is back

the September issue of CREATIVE REVIEW, the british magazine for the esthetic minded feature an odd if, interesting article about “the new ugly” notably featuring the infamous London 2012 identity, already mentioned earlier on this blog as well as the propention to distort default font vertically. THere seems to be a rampant trend for deliberately ugly design for the sole purpose of grabbing attention. Not very surprising considering the constant branding carpet bombing we have to endure on a daily basis. May be they should spend more time on the corporate side and see how trendy sales people can be designing powerpoint presentations 3 hours before their pitch.
