history lesson

Neatorama has a pretty cool overview of “tech” companies logos and how they’ve evolved over the years.

I was most surprised at just how faithful the Canon logo has stayed over the years (well with the exception of the first one).

and in case you’re not interested in logos, here’s a picture of a monkey with a Glock.

    this is great.

the advent of the computer made the art of typography deasappear it looks like, at the same time created powerful simple imageries that can be memorized by millions of retinas. the original concept of the apple coming down the tree on sir Newton’s head by steve Wojniack is still mesmerizing me. What the f Were they smoking in this garage??

I like the early IBM typography some great logos are missing from this list,
    Westhinghouse,

most of these and more appear in this great book called Marks of Excellence

Interesting, Dave – it seems like most of the logos have actually become more simplified through the years (except for maybe Google).

And thanks for the Glock Monkey. One thing there isn’t nearly enough of in this world is monkeys with guns.

Also, isn’t that pic from a scene in Knight Rider?
