/ The French Connection

As we all know, STC has strong ties with France (Sophie, Laurent, Lucy, Ram and Aurore). Which is just one reason why Woody Allen’s new film “Midnight in Paris” is a must-see.

The fanciful story is enhanced by superb casting (the close-ups of the vintage Peugeot and the cameos of the lovely Carla Bruni, France’s First Lady, are worth the price of admission) but, of course, the real scene stealer is the City of Paris itself.

No matter how many times you’ve seen Paris, either for real or in photographs, this movie is still a revelation as seen through Allen’s creative eye.

Through time travel, the director has recreated Paris of the 1920′s with all the famous characters of that time: Hemingway, Scott Fitzgerald, Cole Porter, Picasso, Matisse, Salvador Dali, Josephine Baker and on and on. The pitch-perfect acting coupled with the Jazz Age music at the various midnight soirees makes “Midnight in Paris” a truly memorable experience. Don’t miss it.
